My novel, The Ezekiel Code, is such an unusual story I'm often asked, "How the heck did you come up with the idea?"
The seed for the story was planted in my mind during a conversation with my lady friend as we ate breakfast at 2 o'clock in the morning in an all-night diner. Both of us are interested in subjects that fall into the category of the paranormal. So it wasn't unusual for the topic of the UFO phenomenon to come up. I mentioned the book of Ezekiel in the Bible and how I had noticed many years ago that Ezekiel's detailed descriptions of the object that came down from the sky and with which he interacted seemed more like a description of some sort of a craft, an advanced technology of some sort, rather than any kind of a "spiritual" apparition. His experience also seemed quite similar to modern-day reports of what are now known as "Close Encounter" experiences, that is, encounters with alien beings.
It occurred to me, during the conversation, that this idea would make a great theme for a Steven Spielberg sci-fi movie. The more I thought about it the more excited I became about the idea. That would be a movie I'd really like to see. But it wasn't likely to happen because I sure didn't have any way to get the idea to Spielberg or to any other movie producer or director. I had no such connections. This was rather disappointing. Then the proverbial light bulb went off in my head. I could write a novel based on this idea! As you might imagine, if you're a writer yourself, I couldn't wait to get started.
I had only attempted two other novels in my life and both of them were unfinished. I was periodically working on one of them at the time and it was about three-quarters finished. But when this new idea came to light it totally consumed me. It was all I could think about. I quickly scrapped the novel I was working on and started sketching out the storyline for what eventually – nearly nine years and a few plot revisions later – became
The Ezekiel Code, a metaphysical/mystery/adventure/thriller with a touch of romance and a trace of sci-fi.

Doing very well, thanks for asking. I had a whirlwind tour of local Borders stores before Christmas. Did fairly well and learned a lot about meeting and greeting people. Now I have to get serious about a few things, like continuing to market and continuing to write the third book. I've been about half way through the first draft for about three months now. Got to get it in gear.
How about you? Have you been able to keep moving on your second book? Last I heard you were getting inspired. That sounds good. Also, did that bit of publicity you got from your radio interview spark sales? I hope so.
Hope you had a great Christmas and will have happy, prosperous New Year. Thanks for turining me on to this site. It looks pretty interesting. I wish I had time to keep up with all the networking sites out there. I know it's important but it is time consuming.
We'll talk more soon.
